2016.12.28 Basics of CGC as a non-profit

1. We care only for our own clients, we do not do financial interventions at the request of another therapist.

2. We have faith in our work even though it may not work 100% of the time, persistence is as important as the transactions.

3. CGC supplies another modality for the therapist to use; one that may eventually complete the social work profession. Social work evolved and made use of financial interventions at the profession's inception. That some early adopters of clinical social work eschewed money does not diminish the utility that money played in therapeutic interventions with other workers and other clients. Philanthropy by definition cannot limit how it helps another. Social workers have professionalized philanthropy.

4. There is a strong need for substantial training of the therapist. First, the therapist must realize the need for understanding the client - time and duration matter to this understanding. Financial intervention is part of a process that takes place after building trust. After trust is built, money intervention serves to develop the client's capacity and awareness of self potential.

5. The therapist cannot expect the client to change at a core level, meaning anxiety remains at a high level with limited ability to handle life's crises.

6. The number of individuals for whom a financial intervention is beneficial will probably be a small percentage of the clients in a therapist's practice. However, when needed there is no substitute for a financial intervention.
