Structure of CEU material and questions

A. Use readings from SAMHSA homeless literature, CDC, especially the Google search for a review of the academic literature readings on poverty and mental health:

1. Present the documents as material for study
2. Offer a close reading
3. Present case studies illustrating each question, if possible.

B. Use readings from Addams and Richmond to illustrate case history of homelessness, money and recovery – stability. Paraphrase ME Richmond and the mother with drinking husband. (Investigate Addams and Hull house for more insight into charitable organizations giving long term stability, which results in learned behavior of stability.)

C. Offer caveats and guidelines for expectations: namely the long term nature of undoing the inability to envision self care and stability. Include literature from recent articles that highlight:
1. Agency reaction to personal use of money- burnout for staff, manipulation by client
2. Economic instability of government programs
3. case histories of stability, with respect for the clients’ independence
